About Me:
I hail from the enchanting landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, where my childhood was steeped in outdoor adventures. However, it wasn’t until adulthood, amidst a rainy fall hike, that I truly discovered the magic of mushrooms. A chance encounter with a Chanterelle opened my eyes to the vibrant world that had thrived beneath my feet unnoticed for years. From that moment, I was captivated, and my journey into the realm of mycology began.
As someone who once grappled with the complexities of mushroom identification and the dense language of mycology, I understand the challenges newcomers face. Yellow Elanor was born out of a desire to demystify this fascinating realm and provide a welcoming space for learners of all levels. Through my own experiences and interactions with others, I recognized the universal need for accessible resources and guidance, sparking my desire to educate others.
Let’s delve into the fungal kingdom and discover the wonders that await!

Myco-Education Advocate
Over a decade ago, I embarked on a mission to share my passion for fungi through myco-education. Through a diverse array of programs for adults and children, spanning from community colleges to conservation agencies, I’ve had the privilege of illuminating the wonders of mushrooms and their vital role in our ecosystem. From leading forays to delivering engaging lectures, I’ve traversed the country, spreading the spores of mycology far and wide.
Online Outreach
Recognizing the need for accessible learning resources, I launched an online video series designed to make a rather complex topic more accessible to all. My goal is to empower individuals to explore the fungal kingdom with confidence, free from the intimidation of scientific jargon, and create a sense of awe and wonder at the same time.
Community Engagement
As a proud member of the Oregon Mycological Society and the North American Mycological Society, I’m deeply committed to fostering a sense of responsibility toward our natural spaces. Through community science initiatives and advocacy for sustainable practices, I strive to instill a profound appreciation for the interconnectedness of all living beings and the role fungi play within that.
Beyond Mycology
When I’m not immersed in the world of mushrooms, you can find me balancing my roles as a Special Education Paraeducator, a devoted partner, and a parent to two adventurous young souls. Together, my family and I call the Columbia River Gorge home, where we delight in exploring the great outdoors through camping, hiking, rock hounding, and rafting adventures.
