At Yellow Elanor, my mission as a myco-educator is multi-faceted:

Empowering Beginners: We strive to empower beginners by simplifying the mushroom identification process and making scientific terminology accessible to all, regardless of background. Our goal is to instill confidence in mushroom enthusiasts to safely collect, identify, and participate in community science through mushrooms.

Inspiring Curiosity: We aim to showcase the myriad wonders of mushrooms and inspire curiosity about their diverse forms, functions, and ecological significance, we focus beyond the culinary appeal. There’s always more to learn and discover in the fungal kingdom!

Educating about Ecology: We believe in fostering a deeper understanding of fungi’s role in ecology and the environment. Through our educational resources and programs, we aim to illuminate the vital connections between fungi and the world around us.

Community Science and Stewardship: Yellow Elanor is committed to fostering a culture of community science, where individuals can actively participate in research by documenting mushrooms in their natural habitats. We emphasize the importance of reciprocity and respect for the land that sustains us all. I desire to inspire folks to have such a strong sense of awe and wonder about the world of mycology that it drives them to protect the wild spaces we enter through reciprocity and community science.

Our Dreams for Myco-Education

Looking ahead, we envision a future where myco-education is accessible to all, regardless of financial barriers. Through our sponsorship program, we aspire to offer in-person classes and field trips to underserved communities and youth classrooms supported by the generosity of patrons who share our vision.
